Simple Sponge Cake
T.G.I.F Y'ALL!! I've been waiting since Monday and now it's here! Well it sounds like I had plans but I didn't actually so I ended up baking in the kitchen. I just made the most easy, simple, moist, amazing sponge cake! So I decided to share the recipe with you guys if you are interested. So here it is!
Recipe:
2 large eggs
2 cups sugar
50 grams butter or margarine
2 tsp baking powder
3 cups flour
1 cup milk (water is also good)
Season the sponge cake with:
2 tsp vanilla sugar, grated zest of one lemon, chocolate chunks, fruits and berries or whatever you feel like really.
The process:
Preheat oven to 175 degrees. Grease your baking tin and sprinkle it with bread crumbs.
Beat eggs and sugar so that it becomes fluffy after a few minutes of whipping. Mix flour and baking powder and stir into the egg mixture. Melt the butter and stir it into the mixture along with the milk. Stir until the batter is smooth and add whatever you want to season it with at this point. Pour it down the baking tin and into the oven.
Bake for about 30-40 minutes depending on oven. Use a toothpick or something in that shape to check that it is not sticky in the middle. When it's done then remove and let it cool a bit before it is turned upside down.
The spongecake should be ready to be eaten in an hour after it's out of the oven.
Not that hard right? And totally worth it!
You can decorate it if you want to go that far by melting chocolate and pouring it on the cake or any other topping. I didn't go that far because the sugar in there was enough for me. Try it out then tell me how it tokelezead(turned out hehe). Here is how mine turned out:
